The Bahraini government decided to hold international consultations on urban planning feasibility and overall urban planning in early 2000, with the Yifa team winning twice in the competition. Subsequently, through the reconstruction of subsidence and ocean current information data, the offshore artificial island project plan was signed in 2000 and 2003, with the southwestern end developed as a tourist area first, while the northern part was used to create a mixed-use city. The new offshore city in northern Bahrain, covering an area of 1,000 hectares, is located 12 kilometers from the capital and consists of 18 islands, accommodating 100,000 residents and creating 5,000 job opportunities. In 2007, a $280 million land reclamation infrastructure project was put into use, and the overall research plan was also recognized.
