The De France CBD, built in the 1950s and 1960s, is the largest central business district in Europe. The 160ha platform is established on a strict separation system for pedestrians and vehicles, with a single function where office space exceeds 80%. Since the 21st century, the issue of empty cities at night on the large platform and the resulting high crime rate have led the government to consider the feasibility of renovation. The Trimelo team has made the introduction of creative industries from Little Paris as the main strategy to extend the vitality of the CBD; by implanting a series of glass boxes to bring natural light from the platform above into the space below, transforming the negative space below the platform into usable active space. Thus, they won this nationally significant project bid.
