Qi'ao Island is a precious resource that has miraculously been preserved amidst the rapid urbanization process of Zhuhai City. It is an iconic symbol of modern China and Guangdong Province. How to achieve successful sustainable development without damaging the intrinsic value of Qi'ao Island is the equation we need to solve regarding environmental issues. Protecting natural resources and biodiversity plays a decisive role in design, and it can successfully transform the three major social issues of modern society, thereby achieving social cohesion, economic prosperity, and cultural development. Only by maintaining the above commitments can a city achieve sustainable development. We regard this urban planning scheme as a project of the highest quality that respects nature and protects the unique characteristics of the base: the renovation of existing residential villages; the protection and development of existing landscape resources; the combination of ecological development strategies and sustainable energy strategies; and the moderate development of tourism resources on the island.
