The Zhuhai campus of Beijing Institute of Technology covers an area of 3 km² and is a large university town. The plan first places the industry of scientific and technological innovation and research on the eastern side, close to the high-speed rail intercity station, to promote convenient connections between industry and the city. In the construction of the second phase of the campus, the plan emphasizes the integration of teaching and living spaces, avoiding pendulum traffic. In the core area surrounding the lake, the plan creates a continuous waterfront public corridor, stimulating the vitality of the open space in the campus core area, and shaping a unique campus space with a pattern of high density similar to European campuses.
